What makes me laugh
So, for example (see below), rather than sending this to a friend, I'll post this. This morning a colleague and I were discussing the UI (user interface) of a crucial application that we support. It is made by Sun, Inc, a once highly-respected computer company that grew too big and ruined itself. Eventually everyone at the university will interact with this application. We've always hated it. We encounter stupid design errors and terrible UI bugs that take months to fix. We regularly say "what a piece of shit" when trying to wrangle it into some degree of usablity for our users. Today, I IM'ed "what a piece of shit" to a colleague while we discussed an egregious lack of flexibility she had encountered. She *simulteneously* IM'ed: "piece of shit with shit for grandparents."

Are blogs over?
Wired says they are. They are because what is written in personal blogs like mine never show up on google searches, so, without a large audience, it is better to just keep in touch with friends via social networking sites and twitter, etc. This blog hasn't captured my attention in the last six months, but that has more to do with the fact that I have a more active social life than I did when I was married, and I bounce my ideas off and tell my stories to real, live friends.
