A friend of mine had to buy a new car this weekend. Their eight-year-old Volvo's engine died and needed replacing. He opted to buy a new car instead. They bought a hybrid, but aren't completely happy with it.
It is fairly comfortable, he says, and rates high in safety and reliability--and of course mileage. But it has no rear windshield wiper, no power seats, no lumbar support, not much choice in colors (for each paint color, there is one interior color), small and a bit cramped, paltry storage in trunk, etc.
His story reminded me of the day we last bought a car. We bought our Infiniti i30t on a day where we looked at lots of new Hondas and Toyotas. We ended up buying the used, fully-loaded, touring car instead, with less-than great mileage. We never looked back.
But I think that we might not love the earth as like other people do. We consider ourselves divine manifestations of the Earth. And the Goddess needs seatwarmers.
