The Sentinel reports today that Sal Locatelli, founder of the firewood company died this week. "Locatelli" is synomous with firewood in Santa Cruz county. I don't know if this is still true, but my story about this company is that you could buy a as little as quarter cord of wood, which, in the early 1990s, was about $25. For people without a lot of money, this was the difference between having heat in your house, or not.
