One of my favorite places to visit is less than an hour's drive from Santa Cruz, near Pescadero. It is a small cove that shelters a beach that collects tiny pebbles as well as sand. I've been told this is a unique geologic entity, called the Carmelo Formation and the pebble beaches near Carmel and Point Lobos is where most people see it. But I like this pebble beach the best.
I made a slide show of some recent photos. They are all candids. All pebbles are in their natural poses, and none were disturbed from their usual activities. You can see the photos one by one, but I recommend clicking on the slideshow button.
