How embarrassing. The other day I wrote about abolishing marriage, if we hope to take the "moral issues" weapon away from the Right.
While this is hardly an original idea, I had come to it after reading a few essays from the Left that did NOT consider it, and after a great talk with a colleague about how he felt uncomfortable that he may have to compromise his prinicples to support a winning strategy.
Here's an example of how TiVo can hurt. When I wrote that, I hadn't yet seen the episode of The West Wing where a gay congressman proposes abolishing marriage, and Jost and everyone ridicule him for it, comparing it to Pork and silly ideas like creating a monarch for the country who would perform ceremonial duties.
