Three steps which you need to undertake when you’re suffering from consistent shoulder pain

During the 1st couple of days of shoulder pain, people often ignore the problem. They do not even try to consult a doctor. The problem is that during these 48 hours, the condition can easily worsen. In such a case, even the doctor would not be able to help you much rather than opt for drastic measures like surgery. Instead of reaching this stage, it is a much better idea for you to start taking the precautionary steps on the very same day you are suffering from chronic shoulder pain. We would today share with you three different steps which you need to undertake when you’re suffering from consistent shoulder pain.

  1. Avoiding the physical activities:

The 1st thing which you have to keep in mind is that if you’re suffering from shoulder pain, you have to avoid lifting anything. Also, as far as possible, you should not move your hands up your shoulder. This would ensure that whatever is the problem, it would not be aggravated as well. Even though mild activities are fine like eating food with your hands, but you should avoid lifting weight at all costs.

You need to understand that if there is an actual injury in the shoulder, the doctor will refrain you from doing any heavy physical activity for at least eight weeks to 10 weeks.

  1. Applying ice packs:

Until the time, you head over to the doctor; it is a much better idea to apply ice packs to the shoulder joint. When you apply ice packs to the shoulder joint, the inflammation would be significantly reduced as well. You have to consistently apply the ice packs for around 10 minutes to 12 minutes. You have to keep applying ice packs at least thrice a day. You need to understand that instead of directly applying ice to the skin, you have to fill it up in a pack and apply that pack to your shoulder area. This would help you in avoiding any ice burn as well.

  1. Painkillers:

Rather than suffering from pain until you can get the appointment of the doctor, you have to opt for painkillers. However, instead of opting for heavy painkillers, it is a much better idea to opt for the milder ones. When you can opt for the milder painkillers, it would be easier for you to reduce the pain as well. You need to understand that when the pain is under manageable levels, you would be able to think about your next course of action. After the effect of painkillers subsides and the pain increases again, then it might be the right time to contact the physician. That is why in the meantime at least you have to opt for the painkillers.

So, when you’re suffering from shoulder pain, instead of thinking that it is a normal muscular pain, it is a much better idea for you to undertake these three steps. Once you can undertake these three steps, it would become easier for you to minimize the damage done to the body due to the shoulder pain and to start the treatment as soon as possible.
